Idiots Guide for Professional Video Editing

If you are a professional video editor then sometimes you must need to slow or fast a small portion of a video clip or to cut a particular portion from an entire video.

Here we will use a great software Camtasia Studio fromTechsmith to do a lot of professional video editing jobs such as video cutting, video joining, video fasting/slowing, importing title in the beginning of a video, background music adding, replacing a video with silence etc.

checkout the procedures below and become professional in video editing.

A) Procedure to Fast or Slow a Video Clipping:

1. Download and install Camtasia Studio.

2. Open the application. Click on “Import Media” in the left pane and navigate the video file which you want to fast or slow. It supports only .mpg, .mpeg, .AVI and .wma files.

3. Thus the video file is imported in the software’s dashboard. Now drag and drop it from dashboard to timeline board in the bottom.

4. The whole portion of the video will be selected automatically in the timeline board. If you want to fast or slow a particular portion then drag the selection cursors (Start, End) and select the portion.

5. Right click on the selected portion and click on “Clip Speed” option.

6. Change the clip speed from 100 to your preferred and click on “OK” to save the change. 100 is the original clip speed.

7. Click on “File” in toolbar and then hit the “Produce Selection As” Option.

8. As soon as you have completed step7, choose the “Custom production settings” option in a newly appeared window to totally customize the output such as extension, size, saving location etc. Click on “Next” and produce your output.

B) Procedure to Cut a Selected Portion from a Video:

1. Follow step 2,3,4 of “Fast or Slow Video Clipping” procedure above.

2. Right click on the selected video portion and click on “Cut Selection” option. Thus the portion is permanently removed from the entire video.

3. Now it’s the time to save the modified. Click on “File” in toolbar and then “Produce Video As” option. Then proceed straightforwardly by clicking on “Next” to finally produce the output.

C) Procedure to join two or more than two video clippings:

1. Follow the step 2 of “Fast or Slow Video Clipping” and import your selected videos into the dashboard which you want to join.

2. Now drag and drop the videos from dashboard to timeline board one-by-one serially.

3. Drag the selection cursors and select a video portion for final output. Remember only the selected portion will be produced as output.

4. Click on “File” and then “Produce Selection As” option in toolbar (See last screenshot of procedure A ). Now by clicking on “Next” four times produce the output.

D) Procedure to Replace a Video with Silence:

1. Follow step 2 of “Fast or Slow Video Clipping” to import the videos into software’s dashboard.

2. Drag and drop the clipping from dashboard to timeline board. Now by dragging the selection cursors select the portion which you want to silent.

3. Click on the “Silence” button located at just above of timeline board.

E) Procedure to Add a Background Music:

1. Follow step 2 of “Fast or Slow Video Clipping” to import the video for extra background music adding.

2. Again follow the above step to import an audio file (.mp3,.wma,.wmv). This audio will be used as the background music.

3. First drag and drop the video file to the timeline board. The video track will be filled by it in timeline board. Now you have to create an another audio track. Click on the “Track” option, just above the timeline board and select “Audio 2 Track” to do it. Now drag and drop the audio, appeared in the dashboard to the timeline board in this audio track.

4. Thus the audio is added as a background music. You can further cut a selected portion of it by following procedure B.
