Generally the word clone is applicable for the human beings but now-a-days it is more attached with the computer world. In the computer world the word clone generally used to create a backup of hard drives.
A freeware, called DIVXML makes the job more easy. You can simply create a backup of your hard disc by a bunch of systematic procedure. It will create the hard disc backup in .DAT extension under XML format. That’s why you can further process the backup by any third party application. Once the backup is created, you can restore it in the same drive of the backup file or another. Nero Backup is also a great tool to create a backup with restore facility.

Situations when you need to Create or Restore a Backup:

Anyway now I will discuss when you need to create a backup of your hard disc and when to restore. Suppose your computer does not work properly and can not run a plenty of your useful programs. A lot of unknown unnecessary processes are running. Moreover your computer is going to die and that is the perfect situation to take a backup. So now your job should have to full-format the computer.

But I am saying that don’t do this…Just create a backup and restore it in the drive where the operating system was pre-installed. The procedure will first format the drive and then restore the backup image.  Remember you will not be able to restore this backup from boot option. The attractive feature of this software is you can take a backup image of the installed programs, user and registry settings, personal data etc with restore facility. This freeware also facilitates you to do a compression of the backup file. This software will run under Windows XP home and professional edition only.

Watch out the procedures to create or restore backup below:

Backup Creating Procedure:

1. Download and install DIVX.

2. Open the application and click on “Backup” option in the left pane.

Thus the restoring is completed and now open the drive where you just restore the image. There you will see all the windows files, program files, document settings, user accounts exactly same to the earlier.

If you want to restore a backup from boot option, use Nero. You need to open the  Backitup application of Nero. It facilitates you to do a better compression of the backup file. You can create and store the backup in USB drive. Now change the boot priority to USB hard disk and reboot your computer. It will restore the backup in the hard drive where the operating system was previously installed. Download Nero 8 from here.
